Join us for a day of basketry! This workshop will guide students through introductory plaited basket weaving techniques using reed. Plaited (woven rectangular) baskets make excellent storage containers and and are a good introduction to basket-making tools and processes. These versatile forms can be scaled up and customized. Patterns can be easily integrated by incorporating dyed reed or and alternative materials. Class participants will have the opportunity to experiment with additional materials such as dyed reeds, palm and sea grass. Each student will leave with their own small woven basket. No experience necessary.
