Join us for an immersive one-day workshop focused on natural dyeing with local plants. In this class we will work with cultivated native and domestic dyes sources from Southern California and the desert region such as sage, cochineal, olive leaves and mormon tea. Workshop participants will learn how to process raw plant matter into natural dyes and introductory fabric dying techniques. The class will discuss mordanting processes and how to work with both animal and plant fibers. Students will leave with dye samples, lots of notes, and their own hand dyed silk scarf and cotton bandana made in class. No experience necessary.
