  • 1 cup Medjool dates, pitted

  • 1 cup water

  • 1/8 tsp ground cinnamon

  • dash ground cloves

  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 tsp combined lemon juice and peel

Instructions:

  1. Combine all ingredients in a saucepan and simmer until the dates are softened (45- 60 min)

  2. Puree in a blender or with an immersion blender.

  3. Check the seasoning and adjust if necessary.

  4. Use syrup immediately or store in an airtight container.
